Songs from the Badlands

Alberta offers such a vast range of habitats, from some of the most stunning mountains in the world, to the rugged badlands only a few hours east. My first time visiting the badlands of Alberta was a trip to remember. After hours of driving through farm land, you are quickly met with a landscape that makes you think you've landed on the Moon or Mars. Home to dinosaur bones and some of the closest thing we get to dinosaurs today, birds. These Rock Wrens thrive in the arid conditions, as their finely patterned gray-brown plumage blends seamlessly with its surroundings. An overlooked bird and landscape, neither of which should be missed on your next trip to Alberta.
