Cedar Waxwings

Description

What respectable birds these are. Dazzling to look at, not shy, and appropriately named. The "cedar" portion of the name refers to their preferred food, cedar berries, while the "waxwing" part describes the red waxy part of their wing. These waxy parts are known as epaulettes, named after the decorative shoulder pieces worn by soldiers. Their exact purpose is up for debate but who's to say it's not just to look pretty.
